A Tampa man has been arrested on charges he shot and killed another man during a drug transaction this past weekend, deputies said.

Ricardo Carmenate, 26, is facing charges of first-degree murder and attempted first degree murder.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Carmenate met Jose Javier Roque-Apaulaza Saturday night in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Beacon Lakes Drive to conduct a drug transaction.

Investigators said Carmenate pulled a gun and shot Roque-Apaulaza, 20, several times in the upper body.  Roque-Apaulaza died in the parking lot.

On Thursday, detectives arrested Carmenate at his home without incident. He was booked into the Orient Road Jail without bond.
