St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue crews rescued a man who got both feet trapped inside a forklift and was injured.

Authorities said crews arrived at 1801 28th Street North about 12:45 p.m. and found that the man, subcontracted by Northeast Marine to work on their forklift, was trapped between the forks and a stabilizer bar called a stage.

The man had propped wood under the forks to hold them up. While standing on top of a stage. the wood snapped, causing the folks to crash down and pin the man's feet between two of the three stages.

St. Pete's Technical Rescue Team came out with specialized equipment.

Firefighters and team members worked together, using Holmatro hydraulic tools, to free the man. Paramedics administered oxygen and IV fluids, as well as pain medication, during the 21-minute extraction process.

Then, crews stabilized the man in stable condition as a trauma alert to Bayfront Medical Center.
