Pirates on more than a hundred floats filled the streets of Ybor for Tampa's traditional Krewe of Sant' Yago Knight Parade.

Thousands lined up to get a good look at the festivities on 7th Avenue and saw illuminated floats, costumed participants, marching bands, lively music, dancing in the streets, and lots of beads.

"I like it! I'm about to get buck wild!" said Shawn Little, who watched the parade.

People on floats weren't the only ones dressed as pirates, so were a lot of the spectators.

"I kind of went for the pirates of the Caribbean. I made my hat, I’ve got these boots from ROTC, that's kind of what I was going for." said Randall Griffin.

The parade started at 7 p.m. and went east on 7th Avenue, from Nuccio Parkway to 22nd Street.

Shops and restaurants in Ybor City remained open all evening, and there was free spectator viewing all along the parade route.

The Knight Parade has been hosted by the Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago since 1974.

Last year, more than 7,500 participants and over 110,000 people turned out for the event.

The parade is the Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago's largest fundraiser of the year. A portion of its proceeds benefit the Krewe of Sant' Yago Education Foundation, which now in its 18th year has contributed in excess of $1 million to endow scholarships at local colleges and universities.
