Synthetic marijuana could be on its way out of St. Petersburg stores.

According to Bay News 9's partner paper, the Tampa Bay Times, Mayor Bill Foster said he supports a plan to ban the synthetic drug from local shelves.

Foster said police officers are seeing more and more of the fake marijuana all the time, but it's difficult to regulate because manufacturers can simply change the formula to get around new laws.

Pasco and Hillsborough counties already have similar ordinances.
