After a day of showers, Bay area residents are waking up to a cooler morning with some patchy fog.

Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez said a cold front is moving south of Florida today, bringing cooler and breezy weather.

However, as the afternoon should be mostly sunny with warmer temperatures, she said.

“The afternoon will be mostly sunny with temperatures about 10 degrees below average,” Marquez said.

Tonight should be chilly with some clouds and temperatures dropping into the mid to upper 40s around the Bay area.  The northern counties could see temperatures in the 30s, with the potential for patchy frost, Marquez said.

A warm front will usher in warmer weather just in time for the weekend.  However, there is also a chance of showers and thunderstorms, which could affect the Honda Grand Prix in St. Petersburg.

"There is a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm on Saturday," Marquez said. "The rain chance is higher on Sunday."
