The phones have been constantly ringing at Senior Healthcare Direct in Clearwater since federal agents raided Universal Healthcare in St. Petersburg.

After allegations of fraud and embezzlement, 800 employees are without jobs and thousands of policy holders are searching for other health care plans.

Insurance agent Robert Bache with Senior Healthcare Direct represents a lot of Universal Healthcare clients.

Bache says those clients only have until midnight to pick up another plan or they'll automatically be enrolled into Medicare A and B coverage, and a part D drug plan.

Also if some clients have any procedures already scheduled soon, they may not be covered under that Medicare plan.

"I was able to call my clients and switch them over and people were in tears because if I didn't reach out to them they would have just had Medicare and had to pay a lot more for that medical service than they would have by getting them the health plan that I helped them with," said Bache.

Bache says Universal's clients should be receiving letters saying they have a certain amount of time to choose a new carrier but some said those letters haven't been mailed yet.

By rule, insurance agencies only enroll people on the first of the month.

"I think that it’s imperative that these Medicare beneficiaries that have Universal know that there is still time," said Bache.
