Friday's chilly morning will be the last one for a while.

After today's cold start, a warming trend will set in, sending temperatures into the 70s for most of the Bay area by Friday afternoon, according to Bay News 9 Meteorologist Brian McClure.

Despite the cold start, there was plenty of sunshine today, helped in part by an area of high pressure pushing towards the east coast.

"Saturday will be a gorgeous day with highs climbing back into the mid 70s under mostly sunny skies." said McClure.

Low temperatures will not be as cool tonight, bottoming out in the 40s to low 50s in most areas, with just a few spots in Citrus or Hernando County that still dip into the upper 30s.

Early morning lows were in the 30s in the northern part of the Bay area and in the 40s in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco and Manatee counties.

"The weekend will be dry with no active weather anywhere near us," said McClure. "This will get us back in a more typical Spring pattern of warm, pleasant days and seasonably mild nights into next week."

The next cold front to impact our area will arrive next Tuesday with a chance of showers.

The storm that dumped snow from the Midwest to the Northeast is still impacting areas from New York to Boston but will finally pull out to sea tonight.

It has left behind a lot of snow and could impact travel plans in that region.

There is a big storm moving through the southwestern U.S. right now bring rain to southern California and snow in the mountains.

That will move through Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado resulting in heavy snows into Saturday and travel delays in those areas.
