A new all-boys public charter school has announced its location.

Visible Men Academy says it will be located at 1003 63rd Ave. East in Bradenton.

It is slated to open in August of 2013.

VMA is the first all-boys free public Charter School in Manatee County.

The school says its mission is to provide boys with outstanding academic, character, and social education in a nurturing school environment.

It says it intends to educate boys through the collaborative efforts of administrators, teachers, parents, the broader community, and the students themselves.
The non-denominational school is currently enrolling boys from kindergarten through second grade.

The school's site was once a Community Church of God facility.

Neil Phillips is a Visible Men Academy founding team member.

He served as the Interim Upper School Head Master at the Out-of Door Academy in Sarasota.

To prepare for its opening, the school will upgrade the main building, with new classrooms, fencing, portables and playground.
