A Riverview man was killed Tuesday morning when deputies said he was hit by another driver who had just run a red light.
The crash happened at 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of S. Falkenburg Road and Crescent Park Drive in Brandon.
According to deputies, Scott E. Valentino, 40, was driving northbound on Crescent Park Drive and had made a right turn onto Falkenburg Road when he was hit by a Dodge pick-up.
Deputies said witnesses told them the driver of the pick-up truck had failed to stop at the red light at the intersection.
Valentino was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening. A blood sample was taken from the driver, although deputies said there was no indication that alcohol was involved in the crash.
No charges have been issued at this time. The investigation continues.
