Bicyclist deaths are down in Tampa, but motorcyclist deaths are up.
According to Bay News 9's partner paper, the Tampa Bay Times, deadly bicycle accidents are down so far this year in Hillsborough County, but authorities said they are dealing with another growing trend: fatal motorcycle accidents.
So far in 2013, no deadly bicycle accidents have happened. That's compared to last year, when 13 bicyclists died in accidents on Hillsborough County roads.
However, seven motorcyclists have died in crashes so far this year, compared to with two this time last year.
Officials said they are seeing more accidents involving drugs or alcohol. Detectives said four of the seven motorcyclists who have died were legally intoxicated at the time.
