Polk deputies arrested teacher Donya Leigh-Anne Dennard in Haines City on drug charges Saturday night.

The Sheriff's Office says the 36-year-old failed to stop at a sign at Shamrock Drive East and Highway 17 just after 9:00 p.m.

Deputies say they smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle as they talked to Dennard.

After searching her vehicle, they say they found three bags of cannabis with a weight of 19.8 grams.

Dennard, of Winter Haven, said she is a teacher at Daniel Jenkins Academy in Haines City.

She was booked into the Polk County jail on a marijuana possession charge and a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
