One half of the U.S.'s longest-married couple has passed away.

Vickie Wrubel and her husband Steve, who lived in Holiday for many years before moving to Michigan this year to be closer to family, were married for 83 years.

Vickie, 102 years old, died Monday at an adult living facility in Romeo, Mich.

Vickie and Steve, who moved to Pasco County in 1978, were married on Sept. 28, 1929.

According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper the Tampa Bay Times, family members said Steve, 103, was with his wife when she passed away of natural causes.
