The Polk County Sheriff’s office is on the hunt for a man who they say robbed a store using a soda can.

Kenny K. Lott Jr., 22, is wanted for the armed robbery, which happened Thursday at 12:45 p.m. at the Family Touch Super Stop Store on W. Memorial Boulevard in Lakeland.

Deputies said Lott battered the clerk with a soda can, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.

“He jumped on the counter and he hit (me) with the Pepsi can on my forehead and he took all the money and ran away,” said the clerk, who didn’t want to be identified.

She told us it could have been because she wouldn't sell him beer and cigarettes.

“I just asked him, do you have I-D with you? That’s it.,” she said. “He told me, no I don’t have any I-D. So I told him, I don’t give you the beer because I need I-D. It’s the rules.”

The store handed over surveillance video to deputies of the incident. In it, you can see the shirtless suspect, paying for the soda, just before jumping over the counter and attacking the clerk.

“I shouted when he jumped on the counter. I shouted and I ran away in the store,” the clerk said.

Lott was already wanted for violation of probation on a charge of strong-armed robbery.

He is described as a black man who stands 5'7" and weighs 160 pounds. He is believed to be in a stolen black 2005 Chevrolet Impala with Florida tags I810TW.
