Limited access to Three Sisters Springs could be on the horizon.

According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, an increase in the number of visitors to the attraction is forcing the agency to consider reducing the public's access to the area during the busy manatee season from November to March.

"I've been here seven years and the numbers are remarkably high compared to what they used to be in 2007," said Ivan Vicente, a spokesman for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

"It is not just the high numbers of people, but also the people that are uneducated that ruin it for everybody else," he continued.

Out-of-town visitor and kayaker Lisa Frazier says a limiting the area to visitors is a bad idea.

"No, I wouldn't come back, no," she said.

One proposal is to only let a certain number of people in each hour, but the exact plan has yet to be determined.

U.S. Fish and Wildlife officials want to hear from the public before making a decision.

A public workshop to discuss proposals will begin at 6:00 p.m. on July 11 at the Plantation Inn.
