Officials blame high winds from the fierce storms that moved through the area Tuesday night on a house fire in the 200 hundred block off 44th Avenue in St. Pete Beach.

Two people and two dogs were in the two-story structure behind the main home at around 9:30 p.m. when winds, they said, ripped a power line down.

That created a power surge through the cable and phone lines that ignited the siding of the house and the wood on fire.

St. Pete Beach firefighters responded to the scene and were able to get the fire out quickly.

No word right now on how much damage the fire caused.
