Cyclists may be happy to learn about a proposal for a new bike trail that could come a proposed nuclear power plant in Levy County.

It would be built on a 40-mile stretch of utility land between Dunnellon and Chiefland that locals know as "the gap."

The land has long been discussed for its trail potential and a priority on the Florida Greenways and Trails System 2013-2017 plan, according to the Citrus County Chronicle. It would connect the Cross Florida Greenway Trail to the Nature Coast Trail.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has not yet given the power plant project a green light.
