The sauce was flying Thursday night at the original Hooters in Clearwater.

And when the dust settled and the wings were put down, Joey Chestnut was again the Hooter's official Wing-Eating World Champion.

Fresh off his Nathan's hot-dog-eating championship July 4 at New York's Coney Island, Chestnut devoured 179 chicken wings in 10 minutes flat to claim the Hooters title. He was awarded $6,000 in first-place prize money.

Also last year's champ in the inaugural contest, Chestnut upped his wing total from 144 last year.

Female competitor Miki Sudo placed second with 155 wings.

Next up on the competitive eating circuit: The All-Star Fish Taco challenge in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
