A boy who allegedly had sex with a former Hillsborough County teacher when he was 12 years old gave detailed testimony about their relationship Tuesday in court.

Ethel Anderson, 30, is facing lewd battery and lewd or lascivious molestation charges.

Investigators say Anderson, a former Mango Elementary School teacher, engaged in sexual activity with the boy between December 2011 and February 2012.  Anderson was the boy's fifth grade teacher. She also taught him in first grade.

Anderson offered to tutor the boy at her home, which is where the sexual acts occurred, according to prosecutors.

The boy, who turned 14 years old Tuesday, spent his birthday morning testifying in court.

"I was sitting on the couch watching TV," he testified. "(She) came over and sat by me. I was wearing white basketball shorts and she started rubbing on my leg, she started rubbing on my leg going up and down.

"I was at her house and I was sitting in the back room on the couch and ... we (were) kissing. I wasn’t kissing on her yet.  I was nervous."

He said things progressed from that point, becoming more serious sexually. After more than a month, Anderson started calling him her boyfriend, the teen said. She also told him in a text message that she did not want to be with her husband anymore, only him, according to the teen.

When asked in court what he thought about the relationship as it was happening, he said: "I'm living a guy's dream. I'm dating a teacher."

"Did you tell anyone about this guy's dream?" an attorney asked him.

"No," he said. "I knew she'd get in trouble."

The incident came to light when the victim's mother alerted authorities. She agreed to wear a wire during a taped conversation with Anderson. Prosecutors say on that recording, which jurors are slated to hear, she admitted to the sexual acts with her student while she was tutoring him at her home.

Moments before Anderson took the stand to defend herself, she sobbed uncontrollably. During her testimony on Tuesday night she denied ever touching the boy.

"I never came into any physical sexual contact with that young man," she said. "Once he attempted to kiss me at school, once he attempted to kiss me at my home."

Anderson also told the jury on Tuesday night that she was using "sexual therapy" to help the student with his behavioral problems. She called it "fantasy play."

Prosecutors poured over 230 pages of explicit text messages between the teacher and student. Anderson said she engaged in sexual fantasy with the boy to help him with a troubled home life.

"It was all for him to get the attention he was looking for," said Anderson.

Anderson told jurors looking back that she agrees it was an inappropriate relationship but that she never had any sexual contact with him.

The boy's mother also testified Tuesday.

Anderson was offered a plea agreement in the case, but she turned it down.

The defense has countered by saying the boy was troubled and made up the story.
