Some changes are ahead for the Clearwater Memorial Causeway after a deadly hit-and-run earlier this week.
Rob Lemon, 25, and his girlfriend, Hilary Michalak, 27, were hit while riding a tandem bicycle on the causeway Monday. Lemon died from his injuries, while Michalak remains hospitalized with critical injuries.
Christopher Weed, 29, was arrested Tuesday after police said he came forward to say that his truck may have been involved in the crash.
According to our partners at the Tampa Bay Times, transportation officials are working to make that road safer. They plan to paint designated bike lanes on the causeway and are considering adding rumble strips as well to keep bicyclists safe.
