The new Publix pharmacy in the Lakeland Regional Medical Center officially opened Monday.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was set for 10:15 a.m. near the B Lobby. Lakeland city officials and representatives from the hospital and Publix will participate.

The pharmacy, located in space previously occupied by a gift shop, will bring patients and customers expanded hours and a broader selection of medical drugs and supplies. The old pharmacy will close, but a new gift shop will open later this year in two locations.

This is Publix's second medical center pharmacy. The other is at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
