Hours after accepting the Republican nomination for the District 13 Congressional Seat David Jolly was back in the ring with a new ad focused on his conservative positions.

“I want you to hear straight from me where I stand,” said David Jolly as the ad begins. "I’m fighting to repeal Obamacare right away. It’s bad for our families and our economy. On illegal immigration, I favor stronger boarders. Not amnesty.”

Alex Sink also kicked off a new ad Wednesday. It gives voters a look at her personal side while pushing a bi-partisan agenda.

"She's stubborn,” said her dad, Kester Sink as the ad begins. “Dad!” replies Sink.

“I told her nothing gets done in Washington,” the elder Sink said.

“I've always got things done by working with people you don't always agree with,” said Sink.

The competition between the self-proclaimed Bill Young Republican and the self-described stubborn CFO who get things done, is fierce.

Then, there is Lucas Overby, the Libertarian whose website says he offers an alternative to the constant battle between the right and the left. A battle that is already heating up.

"I think the challenge is we are going up against a, as I said last night, a Hillsborough County candidate hand-picked by Washington and funded by Washington,” said Jolly.

Sink has said that she is ready to fight for Pinellas County.

"We need to protect Medicare and Social Security and be sure that we fight hard for Veterans benefits and I'm (going to) be a loud and vocal advocate for the people of this District when I get to Washington,” she said.

Over the next eight weeks Pinellas County voters will decide who will fill the late Congressman Bill Young’s seat.

In a statement, the National Democratic Party points out that Jolly has spent a great deal of time in Washington.

"From his lobbyist profession, to his 202 area code, to his downtown D.C. office, David Jolly is Washington.”

Jolly has said his roots have always been in Pinellas County. He was born and raised in Dunedin.
