An Oldsmar man wanted in the murder of his girlfriend was arrested overnight in an abandoned cabin in Tennessee.

Authorities said they located James Quilliams, 40, in a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park at around midnight Thursday.

Quilliams was wanted in connection with the death of 48-year-old Teresa Sue Compton. Deputies found her body in the garage of her Oldsmar home after neighbors called to report blood in the driveway on Monday afternoon. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said she had been stabbed with a sword several times.

Investigators said neighbors told them Quilliams was sitting in his car in front of the home between 8 and 8:30 p.m. on Sunday and that his demeanor was "weird."

On that same night, between 11 p.m. and midnight, neighbors said they heard the couple arguing, which was not an uncommon occurrence. This time, deputies said Compton and Quilliams were arguing over text messages he had sent to his ex-wife.

Detectives said that at 4:21 a.m. on Monday, Quilliams booked a flight to Knoxville, Tenn., out of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport. Neighbors told investigators they saw Quilliams in the driveway of the Oldsmar home later that morning.

Later, at 3:15 p.m., Quilliams checked his baggage in at the airport, then got on the flight to Knoxville, which landed at 8:50 p.m.  Investigators said Quilliams was then taken by a friend to a motel in Pigeon Forge.

At 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Quilliams' ex-wife, Kristi, was arrested for DUI by the Pigeon Forge Police Department. When police asked if they wanted her husband to pick up her car, Quilliams said no, because he was running from law enforcement after killing a woman in Florida.  Officers said she also told them she had dropped him off at the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Investigators later determined he was in a cabin in Wears Valley.  Sevier County deputies and U.S. Marshals arrested him without further incident.

Investigators said Quilliam's 2001 black Nissan Xterra was located at the airport, and that a sword believed to be the murder weapon was found in Compton's home.

Quilliams is currently being held in the Sevier County Jail, awaiting extradition to Florida.
