Hillsborough County deputies are investigating a hit-and-run that seriously injured a pedestrian.

According to the sheriff's office, 40-year-old Stacey Parkenson was struck by a vehicle at 4603 Sydney Road in Dover. Deputies found her unconscious lying next to the roadway.

Parkenson was transported to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition.

While processing the scene, deputies found a front grill that is believed to be part of the suspect's vehicle.

According to preliminary information, the grill came from a 1994-2002 Silver Dodge Crew Cab pickup truck with front end (missing grill) damage. The truck is believed to be silver or grey in color.

Witnesses told deputies two people were in the car, saw Parkenson, and sped off.

“Two people made that conscious decision to leave,” said James Grimsley, a witness. “What kind of person do you have to be to do that?”

Anyone with any information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
