Teenager killed on bicycle; driver who hit him also a teen

It was an emotional day at Gulf High School in New Port Richey after the death of 16-year-old Anthony Greene.

"Just depressed, they were sad that he died, everybody was crying," said classmate Shanse Baker.

"Even people who didn't know him were touched by what happened," said classmate Judah Cardamone.

People who did know Greene say he was easygoing and had a great sense of humor.

Greene, who recently transferred to Hillsborough County Schools, was killed while riding his bicycle Monday night.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office says Greene was hit by a teenager driving a truck at Gunn Highway and Jana Street. There is not a bike lane or paved shoulder on that part of Gunn.

Now, classmates are trying to come to grips with the death of someone their age.

"It's very emotional, it's really sad to see someone not even grow up," said classmate Trent Burch.

The Sheriff’s Office says no charges are expected to be filed against the driver.
