The Pasco County government might not be divided on the east and west anymore.

Newly hired consultants recommended expanding and moving the county's government center to Land O’ Lakes or Wesley Chapel.

The first phase of the building would cost around $25 million.

The consultants also recommend building a new court house, sheriff’s office, as well as expanding the jail.

County officials say the need is growing along with its population.

“We expect the population in the next 20 years to nearly double, right now it is at about a half a million, we expect 800 or 900,000 in 20 or 30 years,” said Doug Tobin, the county's public information officer.

The county is hoping to get the plans rolling in the next 10 to 20 years, if not sooner.
