The Greater Hernando County Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee, in partnership with the Hernando Youth Initiative, is presenting the Annual Summit for Youth and Families on Friday.

The event will be held at Northcliffe Baptist Church, 10515 Northcliffe Blvd., Spring Hill. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and refreshments and lunch will be served. There is no cost to attend, but attendees must RSVP.

The Summit for Youth & Families has developed action plans to remove barriers and put solutions in place to create a better quality of life for all citizens, and especially vulnerable youth, according to a news release.

This year’s Summit will address barriers and discuss solutions to help with graduation rates, transition/workforce development, transition to post-secondary education, teen pregnancy, substance use/abuse, violence, child wellbeing, childhood obesity, health, mental health, mentoring, early learning, parent involvement and media influence.

County, business, school and community leaders, children advocates, parents, grandparents, young adults, social workers, students and businesses are encouraged to attend, and sponsors are still needed.
