Tampa Fire Rescue units including the hazmat team responded to the USF water treatment plant this morning to reports of a chlorine leak.

USF police cleared the buildings in the immediate area and set up a safety perimeter around the area.

After entering the building, crews verified that the automated system had worked properly to prevent further leakage.

The chlorine that had leaked earlier has dissipated. Technicians will determine the cause of the leak and make any necessary repairs.

There were no injuries to students, faculty, staff or first responders.

No classrooms or dorms were evacuated as they were not near the site of the leak.
