A new sculpture unveiled Wednesday in St. Petersburg's Poynter Park is a piece of trash - literally.

The sculpture, "Current Collections"  was created using marine debris.

The piece is the newest attraction at the St. Pete Science Festival taking place this weekend. The sculpture is 40 feet across and 30 feet high with five steel arms that will eventually be covered with multi-colored plastic skin made from melted bags and more debris collected from Bay area waterways.

The creation is a part of the Clean Community-Clean Coast youth and community education program, which is led by the University of South Florida's College of Marine Science
