Gov. Rick Scott appeared Sunday as a guest on a special edition of "Political Connections."

The Republican governor sat down with Senior Anchor Al Ruechel on his campaign bus to talk about how close the race is getting between him and former Gov. Charlie Crist.

Scott said it comes down to policy, not personality.

"This is not a popularity contest," he said. "This is an election to say who will run the state better. So stop and think about it. If you're worried about a job - and most families are worried about jobs - look at Charlie's record. He lost 132,000 jobs. He said there was nothing he could do."

Scott said he has worked hard to fulfill the campaign promises he made in 2010.

"Ii just think about doing my job, you know, what I ran on," he said. "I did one of my first interviews with you back in 2010. I ran on getting people back to work. That's what I do every day. Try to create a state, create an environment where companies want to move here and get jobs, and we've made a lot of progress.

Scott also talked with Ruechel about how he handles criticism and how his childhood affects his time in office.  Hear more of what the governor had to say on Political Connections this Sunday at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
