Locked in a tough battle for reelection, Governor Rick Scott came to New Tampa to rally for votes.

Scott is on a statewide "Let's Keep Working" bus tour.

The governor, First Lady Ann Scott and high profile Republicans gathered at La Cubanita restaurant on Bruce B. Downs.

As diners ate their Cuban breakfasts, Governor Scott thanked supporters for millions of hours of campaign calls and door-knocks.

He asked voters to get out to the polls now.

"Those of you who have absentee ballots, get them in," said Scott. "Early voting is happening right now, get out and vote early."

Scott was joined by U.S. Congressman Dennis Ross and Florida Speaker of the House, Will Weatherford.

"During the four years I was in the legislature under Governor Charlie Crist, there was never any leadership" said Weatherford. "We never knew where he stood on anything."

"Creating jobs and lowering taxes, the federal government could learn a lot from Rick Scott," said Rep. Ross.

Not everybody at the rally was there to cheer on Rick Scott. A couple dozen protesters gathered outside the restaurant. They carried signs that read, "Rick Rigs Rates."

Protesters say the governor raised utility rates and accepted $1.2 million in campaign contributions from Duke Energy."

"They can thank Charlie for high energy rates, " said Governor Scott. "He raised utility rates."
