A former Robinson High student recently made a gesture that shows it's never too late to repay a debt.

Forty-seven years ago, Lou Ann Lipka paid her own way into a school dance. However, her two friends didn't have the $3 to get into the dance, so she chose to sneak her two friends in.

Lipka has felt guilty about it ever since, so recently she took steps to make it right. She sent a check to cover the charges and a letter asking to repay her debt. The letter was signed, "I'm sorry."

”The years that have passed made this very unique and it goes to show that it’s never too late to do the right thing,” said Robinson principal Johnny Bush.

In the letter Lipka explains how she gave into peer pressure and she needed to set it right. Current Robinson students who read the letter were surprised at the gesture.

“To know that it’ll be in your subconscious and it’ll come back to you, it’s a wake-up call to do the right thing even if no one will ever know,“ said student AnnaBeth Graves.

“It’s just a great lesson in character and a great opportunity to do the right thing forty seven years later,” Bush said.

Bush said he hasn't had the chance to share his gratitude with Lipka, but he said the school is grateful for her decision to do the right thing.
