The community is rallying around homeless military veterans in Pasco County.

Pasco County Stand Down offered food, clothing and medical care to veterans Saturday.

From the outside, the event resembled a military camp but when you walk around, you soon realize it’s a camp that serves those who served on the frontlines.

“We really wanted to provide all of the therapies and services for veterans to help them get all of the tools they need,” event co-director and Army veteran Brian Anderson.

Pasco County Stand Down is the only Bay area event of its kind aimed at helping homeless veterans or other veterans at risk.

“We should never have a veteran, someone who chose to serve us living on the streets,” said Anderson.

Army veteran Michael Kralick knows what it’s like to live on the streets. He’s been homeless for over year since his return.

“You need something, you need to know it was worthwhile, what you did," he said. "You need to know it was all worth it."

On Saturday, the help offered by the organizers of the event is what Kralick has been searching for. Thanks to Pasco County Stand Up, he will be able to get an affordable home as well as the medical attention he needs.
