The recent string of dry and sunny weather will be interrupted as increasing clouds and chances of scattered showers move into the area.
According to Bay News 9 meteorologist Juli Marquez, skies will turn mostly cloudy and temperatures will drop as a cold front moves through the region later today and tonight.
"The cold front will have drier, cooler air behind it," Marquez said. "But first it will increase our rain chances this afternoon and this evening."
Rain chances are 30 percent on Thursday.
"We can't rule out a shower or two tonight," Marquez said. "But the wet weather will clear out by Friday morning."
Then comes the temperatures change, ushering in the coldest air so far this fall.
High temperatures Thursday in the low 80s will dip into the high 70s by Friday. The temperatures will continue to drop over the weekend with highs in the 60s on Saturday and Sunday. Lows Sunday morning will be in the 40s and some 30s in the Bay area's northern counties.
There will be a gradual warmup next week.
