John Morgan has been pushing for the passage of Amendment 2 since day one, throwing millions of dollars into the cause.

This week, Morgan made his final stop aboard his Amendment 2 bus in Tampa, hoping to drum up much needed support.

“I see this as my mission,” Morgan said. “I see this as a philanthropy.”

Morgan has been the face of the cause, appearing in commercials, on newscasts and on stage for debates.

“I’m in a unique position because for better or for worse, the people of Florida know who I am,” Morgan said.

The Orlando area attorney has reached celebrity-like status amongst those also pushing to legalize medical marijuana in the state of Florida.

Amy Guenst waited all afternoon just to thank Morgan. Guenst’s 2-year old son was diagnosed with leukemia in July.

"We are already in the process of moving to Colorado. It is going to be hard and that's for sure,” Guenst said. “Our family and our friends and our church home are here. But we need the help for our son now and we can't wait. So we really pray and we hope that it does pass."

Recent polls show support for the amendment well below the 60 percent needed to pass. Morgan however, remains hopeful that come election night, he will see that magic number.

Bay News 9 also reached out to the "No On 2" campaign for response to recent poll numbers. Spokesperson Sarah Bascom said her team isn’t putting any stock into the numbers.

“We will work every day until November 4, making sure we get out the vote and then we will see where we are when the dust settles next Tuesday,” Bascom said.
