The remains of Plant City mother were found nearly a year after her disappearance in Tampa.

It was all too suspicious when Misti Whitfield, 35, didn't call her family on Mother's Day last year.

"We knew enough about our daughter that she would call on Mother's Day," said Misti's stepfather Melvyn Ardelean.

The family reported her missing and formed search parties to find the mother of five.

Tampa police say Misti was last seen at Nautical Marine on West Hillsborough Avenue having an argument with her boyfriend. But on Sunday, Misti's remains were found in Tampa, putting an end to a painful and grueling 17-month search.

Police won't say yet where or how she died and don't have a suspect.

Misti's family believes she was murdered. Her family is committed to raising her children.

"Your kids are fine, your kids are all taken care of don't worry about anything," said Ardelean.
