A speeding motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured Sunday night when they crashed into a barrier wall on Interstate 275, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Douglas Floyd Johnson, 28, of Hudson and passenger Casey Lyn Roddy, 30 of Port Richey were southbound around 7:25 p.m. Johnson and a man driving another motorcycle had made several abrupt lane changes when a vehicle changed lanes in front of them.

Both motorcycle drivers steered left and crashed into the inside wall near the exit for 22nd Avenue N, troopers said.

Johnson died at the scene, and Roddy was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in serious condition. The other motorcycle driver, 32-year-old Jason Daniel Hyde of Hudson, was taken to Bayfront with minor injuries.

The FHP hasn't identified the vehicle that changed lanes in front of the motorcycles.
