Two people died after they were involved in a single-vehicle crash Friday in Zephyrhills.

Walter L. Washburn, 93, and Ruth Washburn, 83, both of Wesley Chapel, died from injuries they sustained in the Nov. 14 crash.

According to police, Walter Washburn was driving a 2008 Chevy Aveo south on Frontage Road shortly after 2 p.m. when the vehicle hit an outdoor billboard sign on the passenger side.

Police said the Aveo then traveled across Frontage Road, jumped the curb and went into a ditch, where it hit a culvert.

Both occupants of the vehicle were taken by air to trauma centers for treatment. Both of them later passed away due to the injuries they sustained in the crash.
