Health alerts have again been issued for the beaches at Simmons Park beach and Picnic Island. Both have been trouble spots.

Water samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria, Hillsborough County officials said. The beach will be re-sampled next Monday.

The public is advised not to swim in those areas until the advisory is lifted.

The Hillsborough County Health Department has been conducting coastal beach water quality monitoring at nine sites once every two weeks since August 2000, and weekly since August 5, 2002 through the Healthy Beaches Monitoring Program.
