A Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy was injured in a traffic crash in Clearwater Wednesday night.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:04 p.m. on Drew Street and North Glenwood Avenue.

According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy was traveling westbound on Drew Street in the right curb lane in a marked 2005 Chevy Impala.

The driver of a 2001 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Drew Street in the left lane.

The sheriff’s office said the deputy slowed and began to make a U-turn intending to stop an eastbound vehicle for a traffic violation; she did not see the Explorer in the left lane.

The Explorer struck the rear driver's side of the patrol vehicle.

The deputy was transported to Morton Plant for non-life threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured in the crash.
