A Palmetto woman died Saturday after she was thrown from a motorcycle in a crash in St. Petersburg.

Linda Jean Guess, 50, died at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg from injuries she sustained in the crash, which happened shortly before 2 a.m.

Guess was taken to the hospital in critical condition after she was involved in a crash on 54th Avenue N. According to police, Guess was a passenger on a 2014 Harley-Davidson driven by Patrick Sean Feeley, 52.

Police said Feeley failed to negotiate a bend in the road and hit the south curb, causing him to lose control, leave the road and put the motorcycle down on its side. The motorcycle slid and hit a road sign before coming to rest in the intersection of 54th Avenue N and 15th Street N.

Feeley sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police said neither Feeley nor Guess was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The investigation continues.
