Police are looking for two suspects they said assaulted and robbed a teenage girl in Gulfport.

According to Gulfport police, the 17-year-old girl was walking in the 1800 block of 56th Street S at about 1 p.m. when two teenage boys approached her and tried to talk to her as she walked.

Police said the girl told them to leave her alone, but they continue to follow her in an attempt to get her phone number. She refused to give it to them, which is one of the suspects grabbed her, police said.

The girl retaliated by punching the suspect, who then attacked her and forced her to the ground, pulling down her pants in the process. Police said the suspect then took the girl's bag and her iPod, then fled the area on his bicycle.

The girl was not seriously injured and did not require medical attention, police said.
