With the holiday season around the corner, the Volunteer Way in Pasco County is hoping the giving spirit is back.

The organization held their third-annual Stuff the Bus event on Saturday, and organizers are hoping to have a better year than last.

"The families that we are helping are working families that don't have enough food to complete their meals every day," said Martha O’Brien with Volunteer Way.

Organizers did their best to fill the bus Saturday with donated non-perishable items. They hope their jars will fill up with donated money as well.

The non-profit only received 1,500 pounds of food last year, which is a drop from the first year where they received 2,000 pounds.

The Volunteer Way in Pasco County typically helps an average of 23,000 families a month. The demand typically increases during the holiday season.
