State regulators are setting new rates for Duke Energy Florida customers.

The Florida Public Service Commission on Tuesday approved cost recovery charges for Duke for 2015. Regulators approved charges for the state's other major utilities back in October. These charges include the amount utilities are expected to pay for fuel in the coming year.

The bill for an average residential Duke customer is expected to go down by about 16 cents a month to $125.13. Duke Energy Florida has roughly 1.7 million customers.

The PSC in October ordered Duke to refund $54 million it collected from ratepayers to pay for a failed nuclear plant.

The decision means that sometime next year that Duke Energy Florida will wipe out an average $3.45 a month charge that customers are now paying.
