Downtown New Port Richey could soon host more events with alcoholic beverages.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, the City Council plans to vote next month on an ordinance that would loosen the policy on allowing alcoholic beverages on city property.

It it passes, the new ordinance will allow alcohol consumption at the city's small business incubator on Grand Boulevard and at Peace Hall.

The ordinance would also remove the current limit of eight events a year at which alcohol can be served.
