A growing online movement is encouraging shoppers to boycott stores that are open on Thanksgiving.

A Facebook page asks shoppers to "Boycott Black Thursday" and put employees and families first.

More than 119,000 people have openly supported it. Shoppers at Ellenton Outlet Mall felt the same way.

"Thanksgiving, the holidays, that's about being with your family, not being out here shopping," said Sabrina Clifton-Morgan. "You only have that family time for a short period of time and you need to make the most of it."

"I think they should just keep it as Black Friday and not make people go to work on Thursday," said shopper Nicole Marlovits.

Ellenton Outlet Mall opened at six o'clock Thanksgiving night. The General Manager says they saw crowds three hours before they opened. He said it gives some an alternative.

"I think people are looking for things to do on Thanksgiving," said Ellenton General Manager Bill Mann. "They come out here with their families. They're enjoying their families."

Some have said as long as there are Thanksgiving shoppers, there will likely be places for them to go.
