A 60-year-old man is accused of driving the wrong way on U.S. 19 and causing a crash in Pasco County on Sunday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Gregory Michael Henry, 60, of Port Richey was driving north in the southbound lanes of US 19 just south of Aripeka Road just before 7:30 p.m. when he caused a crash.

Troopers said Henry's 1999 Ford Escort collided with a 2002 Dodge van being driven by Loraine Lachance of San Antonio. Lachance swerved to avoid the collision, but the left side of the Ford struck the left side of the van.

Henry and Lachance both suffered minor injuries.

Officials said Henry did not stop at the scene and continued driving in the wrong direction.

Troopers said a witness to the crash, Robert Kohnke, followed Henry from his northbound lane and watched as Henry traveled over the grass median and back into the northbound lanes. Kohnke followed Henry until losing sight of him south of Spring Hill Drive.

Hernando County Sheriff's deputies caught up with Henry on U.S. 19, just south of State Road 50.

According to troopers who also responded to the scene, Kohnke said he was involved in a crash after leaving Skinny's Bar and Grill in Hudson and that he had kept driving after the crash.

Henry was arrested and charged with DUI, leaving the scene, driving in the wrong direction and having no insurance and registration.
