St. Petersburg is getting a new night in its monthly celebration cycle called Third Thursdays in the city's Edge district.

"We’ve got so much to offer in this district," said Roger Curlin, EDGE Business District Association member.

The Edge District runs along Central Avenue from MLK St. N. to 16th St. N. and will begin hosting Third Thursdays starting on Nov. 20.

The monthly event goes from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature a market, retail businesses staying open late with discounts, restaurants offering date night specials and a pub crawl. Curlin said more than 30 businesses will be participating.

"There’s an extremely eclectic group of businesses here in the Edge District," he said. "You’ve got over a dozen restaurants. You’ve got close to 15 places where folks can get a drink. Great retail from everything to retro furniture to clothing items."

St. Pete is already home to the Second Saturday Art Walk and First Fridays but Central Avenue will remain open for Third Thursdays.

"The street’s not going to be closed," Curlin said. "We have wonderful large sidewalks here in the Edge District. It’s extremely walkable."

Curlin said a lot of the local businesses got together to secure a free large parking lot for Third Thursdays.

"There’s about 200 spaces that are untimed spaces," he said. "So, folks that come to Third Thursdays can park, experience the whole Edge District and not worry about getting towed."

Street performers, live music, arts and crafts and vendors will also be featured in the monthly event. The Edge District was also recently awarded the Florida Main Street designation.
