Fitness enthusiasts broke a sweat for a good cause on Saturday.

Dozens of Bay area cyclists hit the streets today to collect toys for sick and needy children.

The 3rd Annual Teddy Bear Run took place in Pinellas County Saturday morning. Cyclists strapped teddy bears to their handlebars and jerseys, then rode en masse through the strets of Palm Harbor to deliver the toys to Regions Bank.  The toys will then be given to children in the area.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies pitched in with the effort this year, posting cars at the intersection of Nebraska and U.S. 19 to make sure the cyclists had safe passage.

The Teddy Bear Run was put together by Suncoast Cycling.

In St. Petersburg, CrossFit 9 is holding its 2nd Annual Santa Slam Saturday.

Those who donate a free toy at the Santa Slam can get a free workout. The event will also feature door prizes and an athletic wear trunk show.

The donated toys will be given to the police collection for the Foster Angel program. Last year, they collected two truckloads of toys for families in need.

CrossFit 9 is located at 2727 Sixth Ave. S in St. Petersburg.
