A Lakeland company is helping 300 local senior citizens have a better Christmas.

Home Instead Senior Care has an annual program called Be a Santa to a Senior. As part of the program, the company had local non-profit agencies come up with wish lists for the seniors.

The company then put the wish lists on trees at several local businesses. Residents took the wish lists to stores and purchased the gifts and brought them to Home Instead.

"It's an honor every year to do this project," owner Temi Charrier said. "We probably don't leave one year without a tear in our eye over some of the basic needs and wishes that people ask for."

The gifts will be taken to the needy people later this week, but the program still needs a few dozen more gifts. If you are interested in helping you can call 863-937-1500 or visit https://www.facebook.com/HomeInsteadLakeland.
