A 30-year-old man was killed early Monday morning when he was hit by a car in Lithia.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened at 6:17 a.m. at Keysville Road and County Road 39.

The unidentified man was attempting to cross County Road 39 when he stepped into the path of an oncoming Chrysler Sebring.

The pedestrian died from his injuries at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Sebring was not injured.

The intersection was closed for several hours while deputies investigated the crash.

The investigation continues.
